Thank you all for the well wishes. I actually had a great day on my B-day. My wife Made me cook dinner made me a great dinner and got me a really cool cake. I am also getting to go to Fry's and pick up my present tomorrow, a NEC Display Solutions 90GX2-BK Black 19" 4ms LCD Monitor (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824002129). She wanted to make sure I got the right one so I get to go pick it out. :D

Sounds great, Larry. :D

And you can't really blame your wife for having you cook - I saw what you did with those steaks at the LAN Party. :respect:

UPDATE
I didn't get the monitor I was after as they were out and I was soooooo set on replacing my 6 year old 17 in CRT that I got a different one instead. I ended up getting a SAMSUNG 203B Monitor instead. It is 1440 x 1050 with 8ms. So far i like it a lot and the extra reaestate is nice too. :D

Thank you guys!

So far I'm getting more used to this new screen. :D I can't beleive I had to turn down the brightness to 5/100. The Samsung software control is a nice feature too.

That is one nice monitor! I'll bet you are really enjoying that, I know I would be (insert green with envy here)... http://home.comcast.net/~dlancep/thumbsup1.gif

Actually I'm considering taking it back and getting the Samsung 204b (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824001226) which is a smaller pixel pitch, 5ms and higher resolution. Newegg has them on sale for $15.00 more than this one cost and a $60.00 rebate to make it cheaper in the end. I am liking it and also wondering if it would be in bad present taste to do a return. Another thing is that my ageing eyes would never be able to read text at 1600x1200 as I can barely reead it at 1400x1050. I would have to try and run it at a lower resolution for everyday desktop use.

Running an LCD in anything other than its native resolution will only make the picture fuzzy. Do a Google for the MS Clear Type Tuner tool and try that. You can also try fiddling around with your font and icon sizes, too. :)

Thank you Steve! That is what my eyes have needed for a while now. I always knew about the native resolution thing (Capt. Cook sure learned his lesson ;)) but thought it may be worth a try. I guess I will have to try to gingerly ask my wife how she feels about it. I should just keep this one though???? :range:

The 204B is fantastic. However, do be careful with the native resolution as Prof suggested. I just built a computer for a friend and when I delivered it, he loved the LCD screen clarity and crispness, but he couldn't read the text. I tried increasing the Windows font size while remaining in native resolution, but he just didn't like it, so I ended up lowering the resolution and I noticed the screen was slightly blurred (to me) due to interpolation, but he loved it. Oh well, to each his own!!! On a personal note, if I were going to upgrade to LCD, it would probably be a 204B.
