Ubuntu,Sound?

A few days ago I installed Ubuntu 6.06 and the install went perfect, Yesteray I
did an update and now I have no sound. I looked to see if my audio was recognized and it was, I also checked to see if I had sound set on mute it wasn't, I think maybe one of the lib sound files got messed up with the up date, I would like to know how to troubleshot the sound by steps.

I know it sounds silly but have you checked your mixer levels? Anytime I update my sound drivers the ALSA levels get muted.

Hi drasnor, Not silly, I did and all seemed good. I found the problem, it was my bios audio was enabled and I have a PCI sound card so I disabled it and all is well, Thanks.fvs
