Check out The Baby Name Wizard (http://www.babynamewizard.com/namevoyager/) to see when your given name was at the peak of its popularity. Looks like my parents were riding the crest of a trend when they named me:

Me too. I don't even have to look at a chart to tell you that my name (Christopher) has been only second to Robert in it's historic popularity, reaching it's peak in the early eighties (soon after by birth).

The reason I am called CB by most people is because of the sheer number of Christophers in the school when I was a kid, we all had to be called something else...

"Clyde" is no longer in the top 1000 - particularly for females. "Bertha" has dropped off in recent years as well, while "Kasey" is really going strong these days.

My name (Robert) was quite popular in the '70s and '80s, though I was actually named after my great-grandfather rather than by 'trend'.

Seems like my parents rode the curve of naming me Andrew/Andy also. Popular from early 80's to early 90's

Peter was trendy in the 1890s and again in the 50's. It has been on a steady decline since then.

The name Anne has been plummeting since the 1960s. Oh well, no trend riding for my parents! (born in early 80s)

Here is a little story. Our yearbook representative was out our school helping us a little, and he just came from a school in Kansas, and he was putting a picture in the book under the mugs section, and her name was peona, which isn't a bad name really, except for the fact that her last name was bush. I don't know if her parents were blissfully unaware or have a cruel sense of humor...

Heh, I just checked all my brother's and my sister's name, as well as mine and there was a definite trend. All of the names peaked in popularity in the 1940's, which were basically the teenage years of both my Mother and Father. What significance this is I have no idea, but it is interesting. BTW, no real cutsie-pie names for us, Paul, James, Janet (which was really popular in the 40's & 50's then dropped off rapidly), Thomas and John.

So starting about 2013, we're going to start seeing a bunch of fastfood workers, and grocery store baggers wearing 'Quinton' name-tags?
