I recently got an AMd Athlon 64 3700+ for my computer. Ive installed it and it seem to work fine but I was wondering if I need to download any patches to optimize the performance with Windows etc. I upgraded from a 1.6 Mhz intel pentium 4 and I was expecting faster perfomance that Im getting.

It's isn't necessarily your CPU that's slowing you down. Make sure you go to all the components' manufacturer's sites and download the latest drivers for everything. For example, if you have an ATI graphix card, make sure you goto ATI's website and download the right driver for it.
