Just one more week until the kids show up... It's going to be an interesting year teaching Pre-Algebra to the 6th graders... I'll post pictures of my classroom as soon as I get some time to take them...

Just remember, if someone aces a test, it's not "100% A+, GREAT JOB!" in big red pen. Just write: "Flawless victory" and leave it at that.

I put this in the joke thread But saw that you're starting a new class
and a new school so here

A new teacher was trying to make use of her psychology courses.
She started her class by saying,
"Everyone who thinks you're stupid, stand up!"
After a few seconds, a little boy stood up.
The teacher said, " Do you think you're stupid?"
He answered, "No, ma'am, but I hate to see you standing there all by yourself !"

and to show you your first taste of what it feels like to get old: I am pretty sure most of those 6th graders will have no idea what you're talking about.

Let me know if you need to know anything about the minds of those little things. After all, I was there only three years ago! You know what really pisses them off? Give them homework on the days that no other teacher gives them homework. That kills them, especially if they have you last period and they're almost positive they'll have no HW.

And keep a vase full of water that gets progressively moldier as time passes, so that you can pour a little of it on the backs of the necks of sleeping students...

Tapping on the teeth lightly with an ink pen works also.
