Tomorrow's News:

In an unprecidented move toward web censorship, Oklahoma Senator introduces legislation to ban stupid costumes from the internet.

Your Senator will probably ban gay marriage instead.

His Senator will go have a stern glass of holy water and ponderously rub his bible as he ponders how to ban the interweb from Oklahoma.

lol,, that is funny. watching politcal campaign ads in the bible belt is hilarious. every one is the same format, and they all talk about god, our conservative values, and basically sound like a bunch of idiots to me, though I have a very strong liberal stance.

One thing I don't miss about Oklahoma is the campaigns that have the chutzpah to claim that they not only understand, but represent my values. I won't have to deal with that again until the next presidential election

Could be worse, though. The Oklahoman senators at least know that the internet isn't a "series of tubes."

I wouldn't go that far. Some things suck about Oklahoma, but no place is perfect. Since you grew up there, I'm sure you'd end up missing more about Oklahoma than you expect once you move away. Just not the politics :D

Agreed. Airbornflight, the grass always seems greener across the state line (partially because they aren't in a drought) but every place I've visited in the US has its share of problems and annoyances. Oklahoma is no different. So many people I went to high school and college with had the same attitude that you do. The can't wait to get out of here mindset. And now that they've spent a year or two living away, they can't wait to get back.

If Oklahoma bums you out, take a road trip for a week or two. You'll realize how much you miss things you take for granted living here. You don't know how many times I go to visit people and they beg for Braum's icecream. :)

It is good:D.

No, but seriously, I have lived here for..my entire life, I grew up partially on a farm, partially in a small town (enid), the farm is just 9 miles away from my house in north enid, which isnt the same town. Sometimes people here just seem backwards and not seeing the big picture. Im sure I might move back here when I am older and maybe close to retiring (cheap COL), but I really want to at least see if I like bigger cities.

The main problems that I have with oklahoma are:

Most of the towns are very small, only a few are over 80k.
There isnt a whole lot to do here.
I dont really like the climate.

Try living in OKC man. It's a fairly decently sized city. The major bands land there. You'll still have the benefit of decently priced fuel and the traffic won't be terribly bad compared to Los Angeles or Atlanta plus you'll have more in common with your fellow city dwellers beings how you're from the state.

I've lived in L.A., the east bay area, Sacramento, Stockton (small towns to me honestly but over 250,000 people each), Baton Rouge and now Atlanta. Let me tell you that a city of 200,000 people or so is more than enough.

The higher the population density the worse the traffic congestion gets, the higher the crime rate, stuff just costs more. 200K people is enough to give you all the stuff you could want, jobs, places to live, decent cuisine, good party spots. Plus you're not so far away from family that if you fall on hard times that you can't fall back to home base and re-group.

Yea apart from the totally rediculous costume she was wearing she had to add insult to injury by competing with the cameltoe babes.

The first thing that went through my mind when I saw that is an Afrikaans expression "Sy verjaar" Translation: She's celebrating her Birthday.
The afrikaans language is very expressive and they have some brilliant descriptions and expressions. I'm not going to explain how having a birthday relates to cameltoe,(I'll probably get banned for being vulgar) but believe me it's brilliant.

In the interest of expanding my understanding of other cultures, could you send me a PM (http://www.short-media.com/forum/private.php?do=newpm&userid=104) with an explanation? :D
