so what's up dudes..would i be better in getting a 2500+ and ocing it to 3200+ speeds and obtaining an nforce2 ultra board or getting this set up...thanks for the help dudes (also msg to ghoodsum...if the 2500+ and ur micromobo are the winner then i'll think about that micro atx board u have)

which mobo do u guys htink would be better and why?
also if you guys know any micro-atx box-like cases out there...throw a link in..it also need to utilize a standard atx psu... (i don't trust those unbranded psus)

*edit...seems like the biostar is a full ATX, so its out of the question..this comp is for my sister..and i think she'd find it "cute" if the comp was in a cube shape*

For $99 bucks, that 3400+ combo deal looks like a winner. Even to todays standards, that is a fast processor. 2.4GHz K8 is pretty darn quick. Damn, I wish we had newegg in Canada! :(

Those mainboards are definitely nothing too special, but should get the job done. I wouldn't expect very high overclocks out of them, but they should work well out of the box. I don't have much experience with either brand, so I can't judge much beyond that :)

I think this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811144162) utilizes a full-size ATX power supply. It's worth a look.

That aside, what do you need? Video, AGP?? what memory?? SDRAM??
What about this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813128262

Ditch the AMD! Get a mATX board that supports the Conroe! You can slap in a cheap 805D for now and then upgrade to a power system later. Here is a link to the motherboard I just bought for both my kids. They have a nice upgrade path with this board because I have 805D's in them now, but later Conroes, and eventually the PCI Express x16 slot will have a 7950GX2 for gaming goodness!

Christmas is coming and it's time for Santa to get jolly on your naughty asses!!!
