The stats pages are evil !

I find myself saying."You don't wan't to do that CAD work now, It will use to much processor time" I can't bring myself to turn the clients off. I really should get some work done. But every time I look at the stats, I see I can move up a few places in just a few hours. Did I mention the stats pages are evil ? Can someone help a fellow folder out , I got this monkey on my back. I need help.

The thing about stats is you can always get them to look good for you. I was at Statsman and figured out you can sort columns and re-number them ... Cool. So check this out. I sorted weekly production and re-numbered. That puts me in 34th place..not bad for a new guy. OK I am gonna turn the clients off and start the CAD work.......welll maybe I'll do it later....

Help !!

Scott I have similar issues!

I just set F@H as a service and run EMIII in the background. Unless you are doing some heavy duty 3D stuff in CAD you won't lose many cylces ...2D isn't too cpu intensive ...just depends on what you are doing. I mean ...surfing the web will rob cpu cycles if you think about it that way!

1. We admitted we were powerless over our Folding, that our lives had become unmanageable.

2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves (Stanford?) could restore us to sanity.

3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of our Folding computer as we understood it.

4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of our use of CPU cycles.

5. Admitted to Keebs, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our Folding.

6. Were entirely ready to have a qualified technician remove all of the defects from our computers.

7. Humbly asked Stanford to receive our completed WU's.

8. Made a list of all persons we had nagged to join, and became willing to call them all again.

9. Made direct pleas to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would permanently turn them away from Folding.

10. Continued to take personal inventory of our computers and when we were lacking in MHz promptly corrected it.

11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with our Folding computers as we understood them, praying only for more tweaking knowledge and the power to carry that out.

12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to other Folders, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

Forgive me folders, for I have sinned.....

I have spent the last several hour using valuable cpu cycles for my own selfish greed . But I could not bring myself to shutdown the clients.

The Cad Program ran pretty good with two clients running. I did notice a little lag in 3D rendering but not bad. I never opened the task manager to see what percentage I was using, I didnt want to feel any more guilty.
I will try and follow the 12 steps....It is good to know there is a support group only a few clicks away. Thanks for the support!

So I should change my folding name to Beadyare? ( I don't think so , It's my Monkey )

Scott, I don't feel guilty about using cycles at all. As long as my two dedicated folders are running I figure it won't hurt if I work on the other box. See where that kind of thinking got BDR?

Now, if I can only upgrade both of my dedicated folders......

Scott, I tried to save you, but now you just have to work harder to make more money for more bananas to feed that darn monkey.

YAY! I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE! WOOHOO! :D :D :D

Fortunately @ 2.3GHz I have enough speed that I can run F@H and other apps w/out any noticeable delay the vast majority of the time. If it gets really bad (like while encoding) then I will close F@H, but I do so relucantly.

You know, I have actually kept a P4 2.8 MHz Dell from a user?? I keep finding "other" things to do and not finalize the user PC for their use.... just because it has F@H on it. It was only meant to be a burn in.... that was 4 months ago. I fear that I will have to lose my pretty P4 HT.... I'll miss her. And, as I have said before, I cannot leave F@H on it when it leaves my hands... :(

Whoa is me, whoa is me..... Whoa to all the sick people that this machine will not contribute to healing....
