Doom 3 was probably the most boring game I've ever played. I wish I could return it.

You should try half life 2 substance (http://ludus1942.ngi.it/) once you finish the game.

edit: Doom 3 was definatly one of the more borring games ive played.

doom 3 is just too repetative. Its the same thing over and over again. Play the demo and you'll have a much better experience than the whole game.

Too cool for that, eh? ;)

Okay, pretend it's not episodic. Pretend it's a sequel

Don't get hung up on semantics to support some kind of philosophy. It's just a continuation of the story.

And, Mr Star Wars Fan - I hate to say it, but that's six pieces of episodic content that you are in love with ;D

Thrax, you have a whole heap of games to play again now. Far Cry is a must at the highest possible resolution. I never forget the first encounter with the dinosaur in that game. I think i emptied 2 full mags of rounds cause of the fear (i basically held the button down). I missed every single one of them.

HL2 is a great game. F.E.A.R. was also terrific though a little more repetative.
I'm currently dragging PREY out, it's too short to play every day.
I binned Doom 3 after a few hours.

There weren't Dinosaurs in the original PC version. What are you playing?

The PC game of Far Cry i played had a whole bunch of T-rex/Dinos or the likes of them at least. Scared the living hell out of me.

farcry has dinosaurs? I thought it was just people, and those big monkey things.

You must be thinking of something else, Mac... Far Cry didn't have any dinos in them - only monkey/monster things.

Strangely enough, Far cry was originally going to be a game called dinosaur island containing (funnily enough) Dinosaurs. There was a change of plan though and it became the far cry we know and love today sans dinos. Obviously TheLostSwede is from a parallel dimension where they kept the dinos, it's the only explanation :D

I was all excited there for a second. I haven't played Far Cry, but fighting dinos sounds like fun :bawling:

Mac, if you remember what game that was, I might check it out

What the hell? What was it that ran around among those weird trees and attacked you then? Or am i thinking of a completely different game?

Wait..maybe i am thinking of those creapy things that is everywhere in the game? They do sound like Dinos at that tree map.

Half the price of a full game for 1/3 the content with no additions to multiplayer (Which is what I buy games for)? No thanks. :) Atleast Star Wars is a whole movie, not $19.95 per DVD for an hour of film.

Welcome to November of 2004. What took you so long?

And FYI, Episode 1 takes around ~6 hours to play (and a very awesome 6 hours at that). HL2 takes ~16 hours.

HL2 cost $50 when it first game out.
HL2: EP1 cost $20

EP1 is more game for your money. And with such a story driven game, you'll actually want to know the whole story, won't you?

Not entirely true. They had to make an entire game engine and everything to go with it for the original game. All they had to do for Episode 1 would be to think up some more story (which they probably had from the beginning) and then script it.

It makes me wonder that if Final Fintasy VII was released these days if it would be released as a game and then 5 or so expansions.

I'm generally against things like this in the first place simply because I have little money, so buying a game then having to fork out more and more over and over to truely complete the game is just infuriating.

I don't ever, EVER purchase games for their single-player content. I haven't done that since, sheesh, probably my days with the Sega Genesis. However, you just validated my point. It's about half the price of HL2, and offers a mere 1/3 of the content, and in no way expands the realm which I buy games for: Online play.

I bought HL2 and only played it for a few minutes. I'll probably go back and play it sometime, but I just haven't had the time.

I'll probably get EP2 though, if TF2 proves not to be vaporware. The TF2 trailer has got me all hot and bothered.

So if you don't buy games for single player content and instead ignore it for its Multiplayer counterparts... what might I ask are you doing in Ravenholm chucking circular saw blades at zombie's faces?

Look, at the very least you could buy EP1 for $8 cheap after either a retail sale or downlarked Steam prices. Cause after The first game you KNOW you want to find out what happens after the real **** hits the fan...

I just bought HL2 a couple weeks ago on a drunken impulse buy (yes, I purchase video games as drunken impulse buys....at least I'm not getting married in Vegas!) and have installed it, but not actually played more than 5 minutes. This is what a WoW addiction will do to you.

My name is Anne, and I'm a WoW addict. I ignore other amazing games just so I can go kill the same thing 30 times with my 4 person pseudo guild.

LOL, I have a friend that is just like you. It's pretty sad that he ignores all other games (and people) so he can play WoW more.

It is a lot of fun and I'm loving it. I do remember why I stopped playing it though, the horrible save system can be very frustrating at times. Just have to be sneakier than usual.

TheSmJ
29 Sep 2006, 9:50am
Whats wrong with the save system? You can save any time you choose along with the autosaves.

bothered
29 Sep 2006, 10:30am
Hmm, do you have a differant version? I have no quick save option at all and there is nothing about saves on the main menu. I have done some parts dozens of times from the last autosave.

Enverex
29 Sep 2006, 11:20am
Afaik you can't save in FarCry, it used a CheckPoint system like Halo did.

Yeah, the save system in Farcry is really frustrating. I almost didn't finish it myself for that reason.
