Need help.

I've had my radeon 9800 pro 256 mb for over a year now..the card was running fine until i started getting lines and flashing across my screen while im playing games...at first they were small but they got more and more severe..it got to the point where i couldnt see the game I was playing because there was so much flashing..

well,i decided to take out my card and clean everything..my cpu as well..what i noticed was that i couldnt make the fan spin..i tried moving it with my hands and it felt like it was stuck,i didnt want to force anything because i didnt wanna break the fan..but i'm assuming my fan is dead because its not spinning when the computer is on..im guessing it overhated because i leave my comp on at all times...what do you guys suggest i should do? is there a way i can replace the fan or something..

can the damage may be permanent by the overheating?

p.s. the card gets so hot that when i touch it i cant keep my fingers on it for more than a second..why is it so hot? :P



any feedback would help guys..i want to fix this problemm

i need a new fan..i put the fan i had in my room on the side of the case and the flashes stopped as the card cooled down..where can i get some aftermarket fans that i can install so the card doesnt get so hot?

By the way, the first item on the page, the Zalman VF700 is a very good VGA card cooler. Apparently you've never upgraded a CPU or GPU (graphics processing unit) heatsink before. VGA heatsinks are pretty easy to change out. It's generally as simply as removing the mounting pins, pulling of the old heatsink, and putting on the new sink with the included mounting hardware. You will also need thermal paste. Zalman products, as well as those from other companies, included easily understandable instructions. The Zalman VF700 I linked should work for your 9800 very nicely. Of course, there are less expensive coolers as well. Just make sure that you read the item descriptions well for compatibility.
