A quick yes/no reply - Opty 144 on A8N-SLI works?

None of the spec sheets I can find say that an Opteron will work on my A8N-SLI Deluxe, but I have heard that the Opteron Venus 144 is essentially a San Diego and AMD would not let Asus or whatever say the A8N can do Opterons since its for higher end machines.

Am I in the green if I were to get an Opeteron for this machine?

Yes.
It will support Opteron processors.

At DFI-street ppl has been advised to go elsewhere for opteron support.
That's not exactly "the turn of the friendly card".
