So a few years back I kinda wimped out on changing ALL of my spark plugs on my 91 S-10. Though I did change the wires, and I think the cap and rotor. So basically ever since I have had 4 AC Delco's and 2 of whatever the truck came with.... (note:1991)

Haha, so yeah yesterday while driving home from work(I do overnights) I decided it was time to try changing these bastards again instead of bringing it in for an expensive tuneup. I bought plugs, wires, cap and rotor for $61.

I waited from 8-9AM for the engine to cool... probably started at 9:30 and come 12 I finally replaced the plugs and wires... I needed sleep so I was about to call it a day when I decided I better test the engine. WOW, this thing is purring like a kitten once again, I then took it out for a joy ride and I cannot believe how much this made the difference. Today when I get home I'll change the cap and rotor, and maybe the t-stat and oil/filter, but I may wait on the last two. I'll also try to get pics of the plugs because I gotta kick out of HOW BAD the gaps were between the delco's and the no-named ones.

So many problems resolved... me are so happy.

you t-stat wont doesnt need to be replaced unless it is bad. i would just check it to see if it does. as for the oil, i change mine every 2k miles. they say every 4k but thats just a little to long for me. and always replace the filter when you change the oil. probably wouldnt be a bad thing to check your coolant with winter coming up.

and it is amazing how much difference spark plugs can change the performance of your engine. it's like a whole different engine...at least it was for me.

I change my oil every 3k miles, but it can go to 4k if I procrastinate. longer than that makes me feel uncomfortable.

Thanks to this thread, I was reminded that it's been 3800 in my Trooper and 3300 in my Sequoia since the last oil change...

4 1/2 quarts of Valvoline High Mileage and a Fram High Mileage filter and my Trooper is running great. It's nice when you cannot locate the oil level on the dipstick since the oil is so clear (was blacker than night)... 6 quarts of Quaker State and a filter and the Torquemaster's happy...
