Wait, they finally finished up this trial? Wow, wasn't I in high school when this all started?

I want to pull the floor out from under him.

All politics aside, it's nice to see at least one dictator won't die comfortably in their bed at an old age.

a part of me says strap him to the nuke we need to send over to iraq...but i just got done playing some hl2 deathmatch. i find it kinda odd they would use hanging as the death method though.

(im not serious about the first part, so dont go starting a flame war aight :mullet: )

I'll purchase the rope. Though I was a fan of getting a length of rope and a good size truck, and pull him across his country.

he was a monster...even though i don't necessarily agree with capitol punishment, i think he deserves it...someone like him should face, what he has given so many others...

I wouldn't put it past Saddam to take away some of this victory. He'd probably kill himself just to spite everyone.

i heard he asked to be shot by a firing squad, but they refused it and said he should die like the criminal he is...

Agreed. It seems like after you've passed a certain threshold of atrocities committed against your fellow man, they don't seem to know what to do with you, and you get a free pass.

[political angle]

This is worthy of debate, certainly, but NOT at Short-Media. We tend to remain much more congenial when we leave politics and religion out of the forums.

OK? Yes, thank you.

So the point has been made by the OP. Saddam is sentenced to death. Gee whillikers.

What else can be said that wouldn't be arguing or discussing politics?

The result of his appeal will be know today. Strange, how this news coincides with a very important date in the goold 'ol US of A, but that's another story.

How would you bump him off? Slow and painful or quick and painless?

He's been sentenced to death by hanging. That's old school. Saddam wanted a firing squad, but that was too easy.

This will probably the first execution to be televised by Youtube. Creepy, no?

GHoosdum

That is creepy. Regardless of right or wrong in this situation, I think a death by hanging is too barbaric and violent - especially if it's published on the web. A quick death by firing squad seems more humane.

Thrax
7 Nov 2006, 4:28pm
However, a quick death by firing squad is exactly what he wants. It's the "Glorious Military Commander's Death," which is how he and other dictatorial leaders in his region would want to go if it came to that. He becomes a martyr, rather than a deposed leader who went out like a bitch at the end of a noose.

I'd rather see him be crucified and watch him asphyxiate.

Now that's a great idea! All in one small arena in a fight to the death - Battle of the Brutal Despots:

Saddam Hussein
Mao Zedong
Pol Pot
Idi Amin
Joseph Stalin
Adolf Hitler
Atilla the Hun

Each armed with only a scimitar or knife. The winner would get life imprisonment with only a few luxuries, such as scented shower soap and Marie Osmond albums. Oh wait....

I've always thought that is what we should do with our prisoners..and lately, how the football players have been acting..

Atilla the Hun FTW by far

i mean he is the only real warrior in that list, now you wanna add real gladiators to fight the evil people, i think Patton could take hitler out in a brawl. snap him like a twig.

even more fun would be greek mythogoly, Achilles fighting all of them at once for instance.

I have strong faith that Hitler would womp on everyone. Hitler was a soldier, and militaristically I see Hitler as the most intelligent. Plus, he'd probably be able to convince a few hundred people from the crowd to help him.

Didn't say it was easy, just said he wasn't a soldier that did any fighting... So given the scenario that was presented I don't think his war experience would really help him...
