View Full Version : Virus/Spyware causing memory reference errors and I have a program due in 10 hours.

I have run spyboy, adaware, avg, and symantec, in and out of safe-mode. Mozilla keeps giving me popups to winpcfix and other pcdoctor sites. I completely removed/deleted everything dealing with mozilla and reinstalled it to a clean drive partition, I still get the pop-ups. iexplorer.exe used to keep showing up in the process list and it was causing windows to keeping shutting down my instance of windows explorer. It would give me the "trying to save your computer from memory hijack" error and start closing explorer. I got rid of some fake exe's that were running and it seems to have gone away, but I still get the pop ups. Here is my hijack this log.

Hi. Could you please uncheck word wrap in Notepad. It makes reading the logs difficult. It's in the format pull down menu. Please follow the instructions below:

Please download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your desktop.

Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

Hi. Now please click Start-->Run. In the run box type appwiz.cpl

A window will open. Please look for the following programs:

VSAdd-in
Network Monitor

If found in the list please highlight the programs (one at at time) and click the remove button. Once that's done please run Hijack This again and have it do a system scan only. Next, put a check (tick) next to the following entries (do not worry if some don't exist):

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {3A76E661-81C5-426E-BE25-6EF6C5DC2AAD} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\gebyy.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {46A4E9D9-B30E-452A-8157-DBBEC8573B03} - C:\Program Files\VSAdd-in\VSAdd-in.dll

O3 - Toolbar: &VSAdd-in - {74DD705D-6834-439C-A735-A6DBE2677452} - C:\Program Files\VSAdd-in\VSAdd-in.dll

O20 - Winlogon Notify: winmyy32 - winmyy32.dll (file missing)

O23 - Service: Network Monitor - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Network Monitor\netmon.exe (file missing)

Close all other browsers/windows and click Fix Checked. Close Hijack This.

Make sure that you can see hidden files and folders:

Click "Start".
Click "My Computer".
Select the "Tools" menu and click "Folder Options".
Select the "View" tab.
Under the "Hidden files and folders" heading, select "Show hidden files and folders".
Uncheck the "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)" option.
Click "Yes" to confirm.
Uncheck the "Hide file extensions for known file types".
Click "OK".

Boot into safe mode according to the instructions below:

If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
Login on your usual account.

Use Windows Explorer to delete the following (do not worry if some don't exist):

C:\Program Files\VSAdd-in<---This folder.
C:\Program Files\Network Monitor<---This folder.

Use the Windows Search feature to search for and delete every instance of the following file if found:

winmyy32.dll

When finished reboot into normal mode and post a fresh Hijack This log.

when I tried to remove it with control panel, norton popped up and then it never uninstalled. I kept trying but it didn't remove it from the program list. I did the rest though
