Firewall help!

Okay so here it goes, a little while ago my computer crashed. It was pretty bad but I got all my stuff back and then some. I got anti spy ware, antiviral stuff installed which is good. When I went to see if my windows firewall was turned on it wouldnt allow me to as all the options were grayed out. It also said at the top "some settings are controlled by group policy" or something to that effect. I then went to my computer guy again and he told me to install Zone Alarm which I found out (before my old modem broke) that zone alarm was blocking my internet stuff. So yeah what I want to know now is how to turn back on my windows firewall. . .sorry kind of new and kind of a dunce but can you help?

Dear Moron, (no offense, I just had to)

First are you running XP Pro or Home? Home doesn't have group policy and that would mean there is something else going on here. And if there's something alive in your computer, I think you want to solve that.
