View Full Version : Do Not Call!!!

Having lived free of telemarketers for some time (except for those damnable political calls), I have been royally irked to suddenly find myself inundated with them once again. After a little checking, I discovered that when you register it is good for only five years. Gee, I wonder how I managed to forget that between now and 2001? :banghead:
If you are not sure about your status you can go here (https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx) and sign up again. This is good for the US only, but if other countries have this program it would be nice for someone to add a link to their No-Nag contact as well.
And don't be dumb (like me) and forget to re-register five years from now in 2011 or when you change telephone numbers. ;)
PS: Why do these dumbasses think I'm going to buy aluminum siding when I live in a brick apartment building? Imbeciles. :grumble:
much obliged for the reminder, prof. :)
TPS seems to be the UK equivalent; registration can be done online << here >> (http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/)

I am registered with TPS and it works. You can stop 80% of addressed junk mail in the UK if you register with these nice folks - http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/mpsr/ - it removes your name from the direct mailers data base. You can also email Royal Mail and get unaddressed spam stopped.
Of course it doesn't apply to politicians... :shakehead
I received about 20 or so calls from various Tucson/Arizona politicians over the last 6 months....
...........too bad I live in California now....:skeptic: :shakehead

bothered, I wish to hell that we had something like that over here for direct mail. I still get my mailbox filled with notices from jewelry shops, garden shops, craft stores and other things I have no interest in. Then there's the notice I get every Spring telling me that it's time to bring my fur coat in for cleaning and moth-free storage. The only fur coats I deal with are on my dogs, who have no trouble taking care of the moths on their own. :grr:

Lol. ;)

Just checked the the link you posted, prof. I'm still good to go for another 1 1/2 years. Thanks for the reminder about that site though.

Steve, here's a link that helps with the junk mail:
http://www.dmaconsumers.org/offmailinglist.html
It's the DMA's mail preference service site.
much obliged for that, GHoosdum.
