On sunday afternoon, my son Scott and I went and met up with a heap of folk from country back ground. It was arranged via the internet. The site is called countrybns (http://countrybns.com/forum/index.php).
The best part for me was catching up with the lady who owns/runs the site. Checking her details in her profile led me to believe she may know a very good friend of mine i have lost touch with around 34 years ago. Turns out i blew her away with a few questions as my mate turned out to be her Dad. Sad thing is, he passed away in '95.
BnS stands for Bachelors and Spinsters. It originated years ago to introduce people from the bush where contact is very infrequent. BnS balls these days are a weekend away of driving, drinking, dancing and generally having a good time. All proceeds are donated to a variety of causes and are very well supported by the country towns where they are held.
It was a great turnout and met up with old and new. I took some photos of the day, which also covers a lot of their utes they drive. Can't mistake them.....Lots of spotties for country driving, big mudflaps to prevent gravel spray fron the wheels, bullbars to prevent kangaroos from doing too much damage, big arials for better communication and lots of stickers to show what they like and where they have been. Bullhorn stickers relate to RMWilliams (http://www.rmwilliams.com.au/).
I put the pics up on the website (http://www.countrybns.com/forum/photos/showgallery.php?cat=657) for everyone to see. No pics of me i'm afraid, maybe nex time.
First pic below is our son, Scott. Next one is his 250Kw V8 ute.
