I have been running some tests on Sandra for my hard drive. It is performing lower that I thought that it should.

E6600
P5B Deluxe
WD 74GB Rapton 10000 RPM

Average seek time has been 7ms
I thought that it was supposed to be a lot faster. Would switching to AHCI mode work any better?

How are you benchmarking it?

Average Latency: 2.99ms
Average Seek Time: 4.5ms
Average Write Time: 5.9ms
Cache: 8MB

Do you have 8mb or 16mb cache?

I was using Sandra. 8mb I believe
