Hi. I'm having trouble when burning my file to a DVD with Nero 7 Vision. It will start to burn fine for about 5-10 minutes, but then my mouse will go away and my computer will freeze. I can't even Alt+Ctrl+Del. I'm not sure if this is because of my burning speed or not but I don't know what the problem is! Thanks for the help

We can help but we need more information. Nero is a suite of applications - each w/ their own settings to configure. Exactly which application are you attempting to use and what process are you attempting to perform?

"Make Your Own DVD-Video"
I'm using the most recent version of Nero Vision. I'm not sure if that's a good Nero application to use or not because it freezes for me (unles it's my settings).

Attach a copy of the Nero log if you can.
One thing you may want to check are the DMA settings for the IDE Channel where the DVD burner is attached. Windows likes to ratchet things down to PIO Only - go for "DMA if available", reboot, then give it another shot. Do that for each drive on the channel.
It would be a good idea to check the settings for your hard drive as well. :)

The log for NeroVision is named NeroVisionLog.txt and is found here:
C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Application Data\Ahead\NeroVision
To check the DMA settings, go to Control Panel>>System>>Hardware>>Device Manager, then look under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers and check both the Primary and Secondary Channels.
As for feeling n00bish, none of us sprang from the womb totally knowledgeable in computers (except maybe Thrax). Our mission here at Short-Media is to un-noobiate those who are willing to learn. Stick around and you'll be surprised at how much you learn in a short period of time. Remember, it was just yesterday that you were ready to take your computer into the shop for something you ended up fixing on your own.

You might want to check out this forum as well. It's focus is entirely on multi-media. There's even a forum there devoted to Nero discussions & issues. Don't run away though. This is just an additional resource you might find useful. We still want to help you. B'sides, where else ya gonna go where the folks are so friendly:)

Don't know what Nero 7 is like, but the log for Nero 6 is in C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero and the file name is nerohistory.txt
The following attachment might help

Okay let's see..Both of the DMA settings are set to Primary and Secondary as you said profdlp. The attachment is the log after my computer froze for the 1000th time.

Unfortunately, there's nothing faulty to be found in that log. I think the source of your woes are elsewhere.
