"Very few problems can render a great computer useless as quickly as a virus. The best way to avoid this grim scenario is to install and maintain a robust anti-virus program. We asked the members at Short-Media to tell us which program they rely on to defend their computers against a viral catastrophe. We had a clear winner."
A brand new section of Short-Media headed up by Profdlp and Spinner! This is going to be great as this regular feature is compiled from their expertise and the forum members about different tools to get the best out of your PC.
It will be a handy resource guide updated and added to regularily and appear on the front page right column under SHORTMEDIAWARE.

w00t! That article is great.
And it really beats the hell outta Mossberg's article telling us to switch to Macs to avoid viruses!

Great article Prof! :)
Switch to Mac? Hell no. I'd rather deal with Code Red than use a Macintrash.

Outstanding.... great job. Side note: My Company uses both McAfee & Norton for PC's under our full support but installs AVG for all visitors and guests to ensure a secure network environment.

I dont use any Anti-Virus software as none of it seems to use less than 15-20MB, as that much memory usage for that is obscene.
Also, have you ever noticed, Norton and Mcafee don't actually have a CLOSE or EXIT button just to make them go away?
I just don't like the actual lack of control that they have now. All I want is something installed so I can scan the occasional file, but now they want to be permanently resident and even when you manage to close that and the scanning engine, some random process from it is still using 6MB RAM for no reason at all.
Guess that was more of a rant than anything, but still, I want controlable Anti-Virus :(

Thanks for all of the kind words - it's not as easy as it sometimes looks! I'm hoping to do better on the next one.
It was nice to give something back to this great site!
:respect: Short-Media!
