i restored my computer and now my speakers wont work!

i went to office depot and they told me soemthing about
real tech audio?
but im so lost
and i was music!
can someone PLEASE tell me how to make my speakers work!

1. Did you do the recovery using the HP disks ?
2. Have you re-installed the sound drivers?
3. Is the speaker lead (end green) in the green hole on the back of your pc?
