What is this new connection? [Archive]

Okay, so I my family got a new Wireless Router (Linksys WRT54G) cause our old Linksys was being a pain.

Everyone's computer connects fine now but..........

My laptop is doing something werid.

When I connect it says its detected a new device, which is WRT54G (picture below) and then a new internet connection pops up as a Internet Gateway (picture below).

What is this stuff? Why is it only my laptop?

BTW, metomeya.... If you turn off UPnP on your router that'll go away...

Also, don't feel like the lone ranger. I guarantee you more than a few folks 'roun' here scritched their heads 1st time they saw this, too..... :bigggrin:

Ya I knew it was my router based on the name, but I just couldn't figure out why it did that, cause I've connected to tons of wireless networks and it never did that.

That gateway stuff is what I really didn't know about, but I googled upnp and found out.
