OK, I don't really mean optimal, just pretty good will do for me.
I have a few systems that I will be doing fresh installs on this week.
I am moving a lot of hardware around.
One is an MSI C2D system, another is an NF7-S, and then maybe a couple of old socket A's while I am at it.

The question is simple, an prefered order for loading software, drivers, and other stuff? Is there something that has worked well for you?
I am not going to be running RAID, and everything has ATI video cards.
And the OS is Windows2000.

tks

Chipset drivers, antivirus, Windows updates, video drivers is generally the order I use.

the only thing I would change up is to do the antivirus last. I don't install any software (besides patches and updates) until all the other stuff is done.

Make sure, too, that you throw the latest directx 9.0c update in there after the video drivers.

I know for the latest nVidia video drivers you need DirectX installed. Not sure if they're needed for ATI drivers.

Never have AV software...nothing but a waste.

M$ software if I can remember how to get around their BS.

Then Chipset/Vid...then rest of programs.
