There was a fire in my apartments here, it was an elderly lady. She seemed pretty badly burned, but even without the burns her apartment was so congested with smoke I couldn't last a couple seconds in there. Thank God she was next to the door when one other tore it down. I wouldn't have been able to see her and only God knows what would have happened then. But so much smoke, she had to have been in that for 10 minutes, and I couldn't hold out while holding my breath for more than 10 seconds.

It's an image I won't be able to forget ever. And while I am not too keen on religion I know some of you are, and for the rest any hopes would be nice. I've been told she's not doing to well, and after what she's been through I hope she can pull through and not be left badly scarred.

I am wishing the quickest recovery for her. I also wish there were more people like you around.

My mom found out and found this online:
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/localnews/stories/013007dnmetfire.344ac551.html

Today when I got home from my move(finally done!) I saw some folks near her apartment, looked like they were taking out some of her stuff. I overheard "poor old lady" which didn't sound like talk from family, but a kid was there and the maintenance guy too. But I didn't feel comfortable asking about her so I don't know yet how things are. But I have a pretty bad feeling.

I just hope she wasn't in too much pain for long.

With that much damage... she was under heavy pain meds.... She's pain free now. God's Speed Jean.... Rest in peace.

That's sad. Thanks for sharing your story (real life) with us.

I wish that all elderly people who have lived good lives, when it's their time to go, would just pass away in their sleep. My grandmother is now over 90 and I think about the elderly and their health more than I used to. But, as one gets older, thoughts about mortality become more sober and serious.

I'm saddened by the news, but I hope she didn't suffer.
