My son Kyle has been in an art class for a couple of weeks now. This is something offered by the city I live in, and is for ages 7-13.

Anyways, he's been pretty proud of the stuff he's been learning and doing, and he wanted me to scan one of his pieces to put up on the site.

So without further ado:

The artist's use of chiaroscuro serves the painting well. One can feel the deep battle within his soul, conveyed by the flower (representing the glimmer of good) overcoming the overall blackness of the piece. By drawing the viewer's eye to the flower, we can see that this is how the artist sees himself.

Take it to New York, and change his name to Ky'leh Ambrozykovski, and it'd sell for a fortune.

A very nice still life painting! He should be awarded an ice cream sundae big enough to fit that huge cherry on top :)

Kyle wanted me to post two more of his pieces.

First we have his rendition of a "gangster":

Next, we have another still life he did in class. They are learning how to work with charcoal

I like the charcoal.. looks very dramatic.. But why is the gangster holding a tube of toothpaste?

All prison shanks have to start somewhere.

CB

It could be a tube of something else... Like glue or murderous intentions, or something.

Maybe he didn't quite grasp the concept of carrying a razor as a weapon and went with the electric version instead. :p

When we were sitting at dinner at Red Hot & Blue, he drew the same truck from three different angles on the back of his menu. That kid has great perception of scale and dimension, and it really shows in his art. That's real potential.

Very nice work! Masterbuilder K. You should be very proud of your work.
Keep practicing and it becomes easier and easier.
That's always been my problem.
I draw something that's nice and then don't do anything for months or yrs.
And that makes it hard to get back into it.
I agree with GH. The perception of scale and dimension are great.

The last pic kinda looks like Noddy. There is great improvement in his drawings since the last set were posted. Masterbuilder K has skills. Keep them coming Prime.

I really dig that still life #1. At first I thought the cherry was a bomb (kinda like the ones in bomberman) then I thought it could have been a bowling ball and a banana. But I think super big cherry makes better sense.

As for the gangster piece...its not a shank! its toothpaste. duhh. Inmates gotta have nice minty breath.
