Hi I am a new member and I need some help with a math problem.
We are running a machine that has a plastic web running at 650 ft/min, decell time is 25 seconds, how many feet does it take the web to stop?

Its been a long time since I had to do this and I would appreciate the help, and a copy of the formula.

Thanks again drdavid

Wouldn't you just convert the ft/min to ft/seconds which is 650ft/min * 1/60 seconds = 10.83ft/s. I'm not sure what to do there since the deceleration is gradual and not a sudden stop, otherwise I'd just say multiply the 10.83ft/s * 25s to get the distance in feet(270.75).

I think theres too many factors to properly judge that, like friction, weight, the actual rate of deceleration, ect...Maybe theres some formula that i cant remember, but I think we need more information. There are people here who know a heck of a lot more about physics/math than I do so I'm sure someone else can help also.
