yea...im living off campus in one of those POS houses thart scum bag homeowners pass off as liveable around the campus.... at any rate ive had a rat problem..and she ate nothing but my ramen...everytime i left there were cup of noodles cups EVERYWHERE..in fact..when i came back from my thanksgiving break, i noticed thast i had ramen wrappers sprayed all over my floor...

at any ratre, i didnt wanna kill the little bugger (even though im deathly afraid of it) so i set up a catch and release trap...wth nothing else but ramen...now i have tried to catch this rat for a while...and the regular rat trap was toosmall...so i had to upgrade to the racoon catching kit...at any rate...i caught her...and now....

WHAT DO I DO WITH HER?!?!?!?!?!
she's in my room, with a birck of ramen and some water...but i dont wanna release her into the cold...cuz its damn cold outside...but i certainly cant keep her in the ccage for too long...

The cold will not kill the rat. They are much tougher than humans. Trust me, it won't suffer. Besides, it's just find it's way back in your house or a neighbor's anyway! :D

Put it outside, but not anywhere near your house... It will just get back in again...

And whatever you do: Don't name it...

her name is ramona because she ate all my ramen...lol.... i had it named for a while even before i caught it...and btw this is the most intelligent rat EVER

she originally broke into my room through this sand pit i have in my room (its an exposed fire place or sumthing)
so my property manager put the "great stuff" there so she just bit a hole through the wall...and after she did that..she ate through the great stuff and burrowed herself into the sand pit

SHE WAS RELENTLESS....and she is still in a cage by my bed :X

ok, here's what you do. Get in your car, drive 5 miles away, and let the little sucker out. Then she'll be someone elses problem. Personally if it was me I would have killed the little sucker.

I did the same thing, wuggs. I had some mice..I caught them and caged them...

They CHEWED THROUGH THE CAGE WALL and got back into the "wild" where they were promptly eaten by my dog and cat :-/ . If you put Ramona anywhere near your house (I mean like within a half a mile) she will VERY likely come back. Either find a field far away from home and drop her off, or call the City's animal control. Be aware that if you call animal control, they'll just kill her.

Drop it off in the physics hall. Nothing funnier than screaming physicists.

You can release it right outside of your landlord place.
Or is there a restaurant that you don't like?:p
Or see if the local Chinese restaurant will give ya the recipe for
rat on a stick. Hmmmm..... sounds yummy:D

I don't think they would scream. The crazy physicist's at the college Keebler and I went too would be likely to:

1) Dip the rat in dry ice and hammer a nail into a board with it
2) Keep it in their lounge as a mascot
3) Tie it to a homemade rocket.

Well if it's likely to be option one or three, I'd still drop it off at the physics building. I'd just stick around to watch what happens, too :)

Cute pet! I promise you, 100% Uncle Prime's guarantee, that the rat will chew right through the floor and get out of there.

For some reason the Donnie Osmond song, "Ben" is floating through my mind. A sappy song for a sappy occasion!

Wuggs is becoming emotionally involved. (don't tell anyone!)

haha she is a cute little pest isn't she?

Take everyone else's advice and take the rat FAR away. I'm talking to a park or something miles upon miles away. Awhile back we had a mouse infestation problem and my mom wanted to be "humane" about catching them so we setup a catch and release trap. Until we started released them like 10 miles away somehow they kept coming back!

Def. complain to your landlord however, because thats BS.. he should be doing something about it.

I had one that gnawed a hole into the cabinet where we stored baking goods. Made a huge mess out of the bag of flour. I solved the problem by thumbtacking a metal plate up to the hole. Heard it trying to get through it the next day, and I chuckled at its misfortune.

Luckily the arms race didn't need to escalate before I moved out of that apartment. Things could have got ugly. There was already wiring in the cabinet for the light below it that I could have used...

On a serious note you really need to put something between the cage and that carpet - rat pee can give you disease.

Ok that kinda creeps me out. There is absolutely no way I would sleep in a room with a caged rat. Infact the only thing that comes to mind when I think of rats is guns/shovels (or mice for that matter, they are not in any way shape or form "cute"). A good rat is a dead one.

Yeah it's cute until it gives you some new disease. And that ain't big.. I had a bigger one living in my grill outside in my last apartment. Since it was outside and we don't use the grill anymore, we just let it be. It was cute too :p
