It looks like Packard Bell is going to become the first major notebook manufacturer to offer an AMD Athlon 64 based system.

The company's German website says the EasyNote M3308 will contain an Athlon 64 3000+, along with 512MB of DDR SDRAM, a 60GIG hard drive and a DVD-RW to top it all off. The machine will also carry a ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 chip which will power the machines 15.4 inch 1280x800 screen.

The M3308 offers six USB 2.0 ports, a 1394 connector, TV out, PC Card slot, a four-in-one memory card reader (SD, MMC, SmartMedia and Memory Stick), a 56Kbps modem and 10/100Mbps Ethernet for wired connectivity, and an integrated 802.11b card from wireless communications. The whole thing weighs 3.8kg (8.4lb) and the Lithium Ion battery yields a three-hour work time, the company claims.

So far, the M3308 is only available in Germany, for €2399 ($2826). Packard Bell had not responded to our request for UK availability at press time.

Ditto. After 18 months of ownership, about the only remaining original equipment was the sound card, and case. Everything except the CPU and 8MB of RAM, and the sound card had been replaced due to failure.

What a colossal piece of junk. And to think, I paid $2000 for it at the time! (At least it included an el cheapo 15" monitor, lousy keyboard, and inept mouse!)

:eek2:

My grandma has it now. In fact, I think it still has all the original hardware in it, plus some memory and a second hard drive. I believe she has the monitor and original speakers as well. Haha...

Haha... She doesn't know how to use a computer, so it just sits in her pile of junk. Where it should be, if you ask me. No one should ever have to deal with that machine again.

Well I've had no personal experiences with Packard Bell created machines, but as it stands, I think that lappy looks pretty sweet.
