Not getting new batch to fold

Hey there people.

I am running F@H on my Linux box (Feudora 6) and for some reason, I am unable to get another batch to fold.
Getting the following message:
Error: Attempt #x to get work failed, and no other work to do.
Waiting before retry.
(where x is the amount of tries)

I restarted computer and tried again. Same result.
Here is the actual console message:

As you can see, I do connect to the server, but for some odd reason I am not getting anything. Can someone help my computer so it can fold some more

Looking at that server page, it appears that the server is only accepting and is only showing 1 wu available to go out. I know the SMP linux client only has one server, I'm not sure how the standard Linux client is set up.

Unless I'm reading the page completely wrong, you might have to wait for Stanford to "refill" the server.

And by chance I am completely wrong, somebody please help this person then help me.:)

Hmmm, hope the one assigned to the job of "refilling" the server does not also tend bars, he'd get lousy tips.

I'm asking because some of you have been folding for quite awhile now, maybe you know the "bartender" better than I do and able to shake me a martini? ie: other available IP/server or client configs.

I'm used to using the Windows client on most of my machines. When the SMP client came out I switched a couple AMD64 based machines to 64 bit Linux. But trying to use it is a real learning curve for me, even though all they do is fold.

In Windows, when I had the same issues you are having, a reboot would fix it. You already did that. I honestly don't know what servers are for which operating systems.

I didn't see anything posted at the folding forums about the server.:scratch:
With the SMP client, server outages are reported quickly as those work units only have a 2 day deadline.

If I find anything, I'll report back.:)

Ok, can you post your client config? Server .133 was sounding familiar, looking at some posts at the folding forums, you might be trying to connect to the "deadlineless" server. http://forum.folding-community.org/portal.php?topic_id=16235

You got it Donut the use of the phrase "get another batch" and that server would indicate khrom had been getting batches otf TT's and processing them offline. What spec is the Linux box as it may not be upto the job if it is very slow.

That did the job. Thanks for the info and the link. I have change the config you refered to and, voila, got new WU and system now working on it.

One last question. Is it best to set Core priority to idle or low?

This linux box is running on a AMD 1.2 Gigs CPU, 512 RAM. Are there little tricks or hidden configs/commands to allocate the most processing power possible? (ok, there were two last questions)

Unless you notice system sluggishness that you can attribute to Folding, just set it for "Idle."

Config set to low, not idle and everything runs smoothly.
Is there a reason why I cannot change the Nice value (priority) of the program? (getting permission denied. Cannot change priority of process PID 'x')

I get this impression that the program is not running as efficiently compared to when I am 'around' and using the comp. In the past couple hours, it managed to get more steps done compared to when I was busy sleeping ;)
