DOS "net send" command question . . .

so i have some questions about the net send command in DOS. I understand the format and how its used if you are on a netwerk. "net send 208.180.xx.xx hey dude whats up" or whatever you are going to send. but are there any other specifications you can include. port numbers or anything? the reason i was asking, is because i was curious if there was a way to use net send across the internet using a regular ip. and maybe it will werk, but i just havent tried it against someone without a firewall or router. anyway, just curious if some folks had some more info on this command . . .

They are also the same first six as everyone else on your ISP.

The other person will need port 139 open on theyre computer for this to work. If they are running a software firewall, there will be an option in the settings to open it.

HOWEVER

It would be a VERY VERY stupid thing to do, as most windows exploits use this port.

If they are using a NAT based router, a static route will have to be set up to the internal ip.

Again, you really dont want to do this.

If you're ever at a lan party you can use net send to create a little chaos. The best thing I've found is to send a message to someone in Counter-Strike. It'll take them out of the game, and when they re-enter they'll have no sound. Just make sure you have room to run away when the guy see's "STFU n00b!" on his screen just as he was going in for a kill...

Or when you are on some type of college network and type

NET SEND * FAGS!

Thats even better, just make sure someone else does it.

Do you remember the popups that were comming through MSN a few months back? Well, those popups were being sent through NetSend, using your connection to the MSN database to track the IP.

that is an interesting question. maybe someone started asking some questions, and the msn database suddenly became inaccessable . . .

My thoughts are, all they did was open one of the ports on one of the MSN servers, and routed in through that. Once they get even remote access to the servers Ip adress, they probably have access to a list of users ont hat specific server. Thats why not EVERYONE was getting them at the same time. Theyd send their spam server by server.

As I mentioned before, there is now an annoying hack someone has descovered with ICQ, where people message you and then suddenly you get a system message telling you they have excepted your request to add them to YOUR list, which is just mad, I have had 10 or so in the last week, here is one of them , it was just a porn one, closed the Window (remember it shouldnt have got thorugh because I have only accespt messages from users on my contact list turned on) then Iopen the ICQ window and the message that I have added them is there, and sure enough, they are in my General contacts folder.

As with almost evey other DOS command type a '?' after the command and you will get a list of switches or available syntax. See below:
C:\>net send ?
The syntax of this command is:
NET SEND
{name | * | /DOMAIN[:name] | /USERS} message

Doh, I didnt know about loops, I always ended up making 2 bat files where one does something, opens the other bat file, the other one does it then opens the first again, etc etc.

yeah, windows 2000 is still number one in my book as far as i am concerned. that operating system was like a rock. you hardly ever got a blue screen, and if you did, it was something that YOU did to screw it up . . .
