Battlefield 1942

I have a question about Battlefield 1942. If you buy the expansion pack can you still play people online who do not have the expansion? For example if I have a friend who has the Road to Rome Expansion and I only have BF 1942 Classic could we still play? Any information would be appreciated.

Yes, you will be able to play unless the server is a BF:RR server, though it might be just as long as you play the original maps.
