So someone tell me if this is possible?
Installing DOS 8.0 (the ME version of DOS) over 98SE (DOS 7.0).
1] Is this possible to do?
2] If it is possible, is there an advantage?

I wouldn't. I don't know what the differences are, but M$ screwed up DOS functions in ME

Afaik you just need to replace command.com in the root drive and all the files in the EBD folder (in the Windows folder) oh, and the command folder (could be in the Windows folder or the EBD folder).

Did M$ strip down DOS 8 in windows me? Heard someone say you couldnt reboot into DOS or something. I dont know as ive never used it.

Thanks for the info. I still wonder if there is any advantage to DOS 8.0? I'm going to try your tip Nightshade (on my testy computer). Now I've seen a warning against this:
Do NOT replace ANY of these original Win98 SE files because your OS/programs WILL STOP WORKING PROPERLY IF YOU DO:
COMMAND.COM + IO.SYS from C:\ root
ANY files NOT listed below from C:\Windows\Command
COMMAND.COM, WIN.COM...

BTW there is apparently some freeware patches that allow ME to Access DOS 8.0:
"Get one of the 3 available Unofficial Windows ME Real DOS Mode Patches (all freeware)"
