View Full Version : NF7-S or A7N8X-Deluxe?
Which one should i get? Tell me the pros and cons of each board. Right now i am leaning towards the A7N8X because it has better sound (soundstorm instead of whatever else...) and all the other stuff is the exact same.
Have any of you bought an A7N8X refurb from newegg? How likely am to get a 2.0 revision instead of the older stuff? Same question about the NF7-S refurb at newegg.
I know they don't have either of those refurb in stock at newegg right now but by the next time thye get some in i need to have mind made up. Feel free to suggest other Nforce 2 boards as long as you have some good reasons why i should buy them! :)
Wow.. i can't belive i am still awake a 2:41am, and i'm not even a little bit tired yet.

I'd go for the NF7-S, best OC'ers board. I've been using mine since it came out w/o any problems.
FYI: the NF7-S uses the SoundStorm chip as well.

Diotto what EQuito posted. I have had my rev 2 since they first came avilable and it is a super board. Out of the box I was able to do 13x166=2171 @default volt, 10.5x200=2100 @default volt, 11.5x200=2305 @1.81v and currently doing 11.5x210=2420 @1.82v with an xp2100. I have never had my mem timings less than 5-2-2-2 with the one 512 stick of Corsair XMS3200C2. The sound is great and I am currently running it through my Harmon Kardon amp with a pair of Bose 901's. :)

ditto on the replies. The nf7-s seems to be high on the oc list these days, but the A7N8X is also a great board none the less. If you won't a rev 2.0 NF7-S then excaliberpc.com has them with a guarantee 2.0.

My preference is for the A7N8X-Deluxe, and mine OC'ed pretty well (before it died :( ) It ran my AIRGA 2200+ @ 2600+ speeds...
I wouldn't buy a refurbished one though. It has a special backplane for it's unique IO layout, and if you don't get that, you're kinda SOL...
NF7-S, no doubt about it. Just check around this forums to find problems about A7X8Ns not unlocking chips, not overclockinbg right, etc, etc. Nothing beats Abit for overclocking and performance. :)

The new A7N8X Deluxe's support 400FSB. I'm thinking of buying this and when the 400FSB Barton's come out I'll grab one. My current system is 2 years and 8 months old. damn thats a long time...
Ooops, read on Sharkey's that the Abit board now also supports 400FSB....
hmmm....decisions.....
