ive done a search and found FA.

so if anyone could enlighten me as to why the post counts are frozen in this forum, not that post counts mean anything to anyone.

It is however a good indication to the users knowledge of the forums they digress in.

We don't count OT posts as they contain no knowledge basicaly. There is no prize for post counts. You can modify your avatar and title from day one. We are really focusing more on tech stuff at Icrontic now. You might try short-media.com as they have three times our OT posts. Thats where a bunch of the old Icrontic crowd sorta split off too. Its a great place to post also.

Short-Media does not display post count at all.

I think most of us agree that post count is just a number and not a true reflection of a member's ability to be helpful. :)

You are right m8. OT is just a place to joke around with regular members and to take a load off.

OT posts don't count at Short-Media either, nor do several other forums. As MrBill said, Short-Media doesn't display it at all but it is still there and ticking away for the true tech forums if you're really into that.

well stated, mrbill.

replying to a post in these forums are not considered to be helpful? - weird. Agreed they are not many technical questions in GD but still...

if your gonna freeze posts in one forum, why not then all (the old debate)

Thanks for the answers though.

JOno GJUK: This is the NEW Icrontic. It is our intention to make Icrontic a premier tech site again. Off Topic is just there as a place to unwind and discuss non-tech issues. You may or may not post something in off topic that is helpful, but it doesn't fit into the technical arena we are trying to build here.

As far as I know, OFF TOPIC is the only forum where post count is "ignored".

I even think that a post should have a minimum # of words in it to qualify as a post. I see where some members are posting meaningless ^#@$^&*$!* and getting their post #'s up in only days.

If you want to know how many posts you've made look at your profile by clicking on your name under currently active users then clicking on "search for all posts by this user"

I am looking forward to my new P4 3.0 and Asus P4C800 Deluxe. I will continue to use the two WD 120GB JB's\Raid-0 for now as I do not believe SATA is totally refined at this point and I have choosen to wait for now. WD is having a few challenges with the development of the new drives. I also just ordered the Sony DW-U10A 4X DVD +R/RW Drive. They have really come down in price.

It's been a year since I upgraded as the wife had sent my picture to Fry's with a "do not sell to this man," flyer. LoL

Should it be all work and no play? :D
