win2000 network problem

hi guys, i just installed a creative webcam on my comp. after installing it, my network wouldnt work properly anymore. the LAN can be detected but i cant access any sites. i tried pinging to the router but no response. wat could be the problem?

btw, i had problems getting the right drivers/software for the creative webcam. so, i tried a few version. i think that might have messed up something there.

and ive sinced un-installed the webcam and re-configuring the network. but still the same problem persist.

Pinging the router should be the simplest of all tasks! Do you have an IP address? Is the network cable plugged in...? (sorry for stupid question but it has to be asked)

Is the network card possibly sharing an IRQ with the USB ports?

Are you using the USB ports for anything else?
