Ugh! A while back my computer's power supply died... so I bought a new one a few days ago, put it in and turned it on... NOTHING! No "beep" or nothing. Blank screen but everything is running, fan's, hard drive... Just wondering what I can do to trouble shoot this to figure out what the problem is... Can I?

Unfortunately when power supplies die they can and often do take other main components with them.

Sorry for the bad news.

Welcome to the forums :)

Boy, what a cheery welcome! Yus guys is heartless.... might be right, but heartless. :)

l33txp try the cpu in another board and see if it's still ok. Odds are the mobo is toast. If the cpu checks out, you can strip the mobo down and out of the case. See if you get anywhere there.

Oh yea. Welcome to the Forum.

LoL not heartless, I know when the system hangs and does notthing on boot, 99% chance defective CPU, you made it defective. You need to be @ a static free workstation, carpet is the worst. A alternate is, go in your backyard, on the hard concrete with your barefeet to insert the CPU.

Thanks for the replies!! I'm sure it is the CPU... I don't know anyone that has a AMD board... F**kin Intel! Athlon's are pretty cheap these days.... I'll just sell some stuff on ebay... save up and buy a athlon... put it in... still don't work... buy a new mobo... everything else works... I've had those in other systems because they will work that way... So it's 1 of 2 things.... CPU or MOBO.

Thanks for the welcome!! I've been here a long time... way back before the site was shut down... Now it's back up!! Just recently found it though!!

What do you mean you will buy a new one, just send that POS to AMD and they will send you a brand new boxed CPU.

How does that work?? Never knew you could do that... What do I need to do? Does it matter the chip is about 1-2 years old?
