Got to upgrade an old slot1 Pentium 3 box (BX chipset I think) for some relatives but I'm not exactly sure what to recommend them. Anyone have any experience with SlotKET's or know where I can get a 800MHz slot1 P3 for about $60 - $80? Thanks.

Or go to pricewatch.com and look at the CPU section (or streetprices.com).

HackingGuru - Believe me if this were my computer I would. ;)

Stranger - Thanks for the link.. damn P3s are expensive.. even if they are 3 years old. :(

Go to ebay and search for slocket. These allow socket 370 coppermine celerons to run in a slot one MB. remember the MB must support the multiplier for the cpu. The coppermine celerons are much faster then the p3 slot1's but... Frys has ECS k7s5a pros' in a combo with 2000 XP's for 69 bucks with sound and lan built in. takes ddr or pc133 sdram. Throw in a HSF and video and your rocking. I just sent one of those and a 2400 xp+ in the same combo ($89) to Omega65 in Philly as he has no frys near him.

Fry's here in CA has a 1800/K7S5A Pro for $60... I've bought 4 of them now (1 for me, 3 for friends) and ALL 4 CHIPS have been JIUHB DLT3C 1800+es.... haven't had a chance to test them yet tho...

Just got them too! Thanks Tex!

I second Tex's suggestion. The ECS Athlon combo ($50 - $89 1700+ - 2400+) performs better and is cheaper than any P3 setup you can create.
