All I want is a simple program that runs in the systray or in the background that monitors incoming and outgoing transfers on my computer--both total and current transfers.

I've tried Look@Lan, NetworkSpy, and NetworkSniffer so far from download.com. None of these have what I'm looking for. Could you maybe throw me some program names that do this?

i dont have answers, but rather a mutual interest. i also would be interested in a reliable, non-bloated program that could monitor this . . .

Damn, I remember reading about how to setup w2k/xp pro's system monitor to perform this task and even to generate reports, but as it was not something I needed at the time I have since forgotten the details, but I do know for a fact it's all something windows can track for you...

Actually, "Performance Monitor" is what it's called in XP, and you can monitor just about any movement of data within and without your PC (including all the network protocols). I think w2k has the same thing as it appears to be integrated into NT 5.

YAY, I found the right search query: "bandwidth monitor." Search download.com or google for it.

After having tried several different applications that all do bandwidth monitoring, I've narrowed my favorites down to NetGrid 2.1.1.0 and Bandwidth Monitor Pro 2.6. Both are shareware, cost $20 and have a typical 30 day trial period with them. NetGrid is what I'm leaning more towards because of its low CPU usage and daily/weekly/monthly bandwidth logging capabilities.
