bios question

a friend of mine has posted the following question on our forums, and noone has been able to answer him....

"Is it possible for demo software to flash your bios so that even after you re-format your hard drive you still cant use the software because it detected a previous installation? (3ds max demo is doing this)"

highly doubtful. the only software I've ever heard capable of doing this is the chernobyl virus, or something like the new windows-based bios flashing utilities. more likely, i think something gets written to the demo setup file that tells it not to be installed again. but i doubt that too. i suspect user error in this case.
