For geocities, just rename the extension to something like "x" and it should work. The problem would be the bandwidth limit.

rename the extension...
and picture will still show up?

I don't know vB code but thanks anyway. I've just decided to email it to a friend who has some university space.

check out http://100best-free-web-space.com/

I use portland since it's one on the few that support php( and ESP, SSI). Unfortunately it only allows 100MB Monthly Bandwidth and 15mb storage space.

sorry for the late response Ben.
I got this mail from Portland only a few days after I posted here;

With immediate effect, Portland Communications Ltd can no longer support
PHP on our Freeweb Accounts.

A small minority of users have continued to abuse the Free service and
this is no longer viewed as acceptable.

:(

too bad, but there are other sites that support php. http://www.aspfreeserver.com for example.
