unless he had a journal, I think he made a lot up...

it is definitely a sad thing that this happened to him. it makes me sick of how things work here in our country, especially since we deported someone from another country to where he didn't live.

would you make up being tortured joel?

I sure as hell wouldn't, i belive memories of being beaten constantly would stick with you.

its a very sad story.

i'm also a Syrian (armenian not arab) Canadian and i would never ever go to syria.
they would grab me at the airport and take me to months of military training (ahem, torture for leaving the country).

I did not mean that he made the whole thing up, I was just suprized at the detail he was able to give of what happened.

example: "I asked again for a lawyer. At three in the morning they took me back to my cell. At three in the morning on Tuesday, Oct. 8, a prison guard woke me up and told me I was leaving."

but it just goes on and on, at 7:30 they did this... at 9:45 this happneded...

I was just commenting (although it appears I did not make it clear) that his memory must be way better then mine, or he made up/guessed at a lot of those events

no, but I could easily see someone doing it for political or someother kind of gain, people are twisted (I am not saying he did, I am just very skeptical by nature...)

Very sad, but very true. Shame on the Canadian Government for their involvement or lack of. This is not the only time they have let their citizens down while being held in foreign contries.

As for the American Government, well that be best left unsaid.
