View Full Version : MSN Messenger receive file problem

Every time i attempt to receive a file on messenger 5 my connection goes down. I am using a DSL504 adsl router. It takes a while for my connection to work again and i have to restart my pc and router.

Any suggestions?

Get a newer version of messenger aren't they up to 6 or 7?

Try opening some ports using the 'port forwarding' section on the router web based setup. I think MSN messenger uses the ports 6891-6900.
Or alternatively try updating the firmware on the router. I am using version R2.21.002.06.b14uk which was released around 14th Oct' 2003, and as far as I know it is the latest firmware version for generation 2, revision B hardware (I have this). I have read and have experienced that this has cured the problem.
