POT Heat

ok I use 2x 120mm fans to cool my system mostly. 0.6A, 12V, 7 blade, don't know cfm, but there LOUD at 12V. I've been using a switch bus, having them at 5V.

Then I got the bright idea of putting a dust filter over the intake. Ut oh, spins to slow to pull air through.

Looks like I'm going to be switching to some kind of variable control. How hot do POTs get when connected directly to a fan to control speed?
