Each work unit is done in small parts, or frames, and when the section of data that needs to be done is completed, that 'work unit' (made up of any number of frames depending on the particular work being done) is sent to the home server and a new batch of data instructions are then downloaded and you start with the next WU (work unit). Some work units take hours, some days to complete (depending on the speed of your PC). They give you a week or so to finish the work and upload it. If the home server doesn't receive the completed WU in that time it will simply pass it along to another folding at home member and give you a new WU to work on when you connect again.

Welcome to the folding team :).

you have to have submitted at least one work unit, after that is done, your name should show up after a while.. sometimes is like an hour after you have done it sometimes its 24...

hey, how do you you get like 30 WU at a time, i notice u had it happen, is that like a really big project or somthing?

okay, i closed the program cause it was a CPU hog, and i wanted to do somthing, and when i started it back up, it was back at 0.. did i just loose 300 frames, and they not be recorded in my favor?

They may have completed and started you back at 0 (sending the results).

Citrixmeta has a few computers folding so he gets mad WU-age. :p

LilBro:

You don't have to quit folding when you want to do something else. It's a very well-designed program that uses the UNUSED processor cycles. So, if you want to open a bunch of stuff or whatever, folding will use whatever's left of a CPU cycle. If you're doing something intense, like photoshop filters or video encoding or something, folding will be almost idle. If you're doing lite stuff like surfing the net, word processing, etc., folding will take up the rest of the CPU. Run process viewer while you are doing "normal" work and you will see that normally you are only using 10, 20, maybe 30% of your CPU at any given time. F@H uses the rest, and does not slow down or interfere with what you're doing.

You should leave it running all the time :D
