hello all! long time no post, bean a busy bee over xmas :(

Anyhow santa left me some cash so im gonna upgrade my machine. Ive currently got 512 DDR memory, im presuming its one of the slower DDR types as ive had it ages. PC 2100?

I was wondering if there is a vast difference in the speeds of memory or not.

Cheers in advance!

Only if you intend on running the bus speed past default/overclock. Otherwise, the only settings better ram will get you are some latency ones that will not garnish enough performance increase to justify buying it.

Your motherboard, cpu, and memory are approaching an upgrade path soon. Maybe save the money to invest towards that. ;)

Aahh... I see. You will need faster ram to run the 166mhz or 200mhz bus most bartons require...
