Just for fun, I present to you John Titor (http://www.johntitor.com/) ....

I dont know how many of you are aware of Mr Titor, but a breif description follows:

'Although there is debate over the exact date it started, on November 02, 2000, a person calling themselves Timetravel_0, and later John Titor, started posting on a public forum that he was a time traveler from the year 2036.

One of the first things he did was post pictures of his time machine and its operations manual. As the weeks went by, more and more people began questioning him about why he was here, the physics of time travel and his thoughts about our time. He also posted on other forums including the old Art Bell site. In his posts John Titor entertained, angered, frightened and even belittled those who engaged him in conversation.'

Please feel free to read through, comment, belittle this man, and his suppositions, I will comment later...

Oh, and above all, have fun! :D

Interesting, yet... somehow.... impossible. Time travel is such a horrible thing, I cannot think of where to start telling of the so many ways that "Time travel" is impossible.

It even sounds lame probably, but I just don't think "Time and Space" exist the way it is percieved, but I do see "Space and Progression" as a feasible theory of our Universe.

I'm sure happy the title to this thread wasn't "Wrap these around your head". :p ;)

RWB had this to say

Why is it impossible? I think its possible. Extremely possible if you entertain the multiverse theory. All you need to do is figure out how to jump from one to another.

This appeared like 3 years ago and people thought the guy was an asshat then, now it turns up again and people still think he is an asshat.

Maybe I should start a site saying that I am an alien from Mars. Apparently judging from the level of intelligence of the people viewing that site, I shouldn't have any problems.

One very disturbing thing I have noticed about your society in general is your blind acceptance of what you are told.

No, not so much as you would think. After all, we see Titor's stuff as an experiment in science fiction, when it really comes across as an amateurish blend of philosophy, religion, politics, and odds and ends grabbed from general audience films.

I so though, admire his concept and creativity. High marks on that.

If 2036 exists, then all points in time exist, and inevitably, someone is going to create a barrier against time travelling somewhere down the road. Think about it. If no one stepped up and martialed time travel, ANYONE with enough money could build a machine (In the future) and travel back and exploit currently unknown knowledge for the gain of power/wealth/etc. The stock market is a common example of what a time traveller might take advantage of. Another would be introducing a revolutionary invention (something with as much potential as the computer had in the 60's and 70's). You could make millions from either of these two. Imagine going back when MS first hit the stock market. Buy a TON of shares with money you stole from a different time, and travel to today or 10 years from today. You're sitting on a fortune.

So you see, it'd be illogical to assume that because 2036 exists, the year 7042 does not exist, and by that time, someone will have figured out how to police time travel for all ages, provided time travel is even possible. This guy never mentions anything of that sort, which is why his story is nothing more than a large joke similar to the War of the Worlds broadcast which caused quite the uproar.
