I'm trying to install a Pinnacle LINX 1394 Card into a computer and it will not detect in windows OR in BIOS. I checked to see that the PCI slots are enabled and set to auto, which they are. Does anyone know what i might be missing? Could it be a defective card?

Could be a defective card. What version of windows? Have you tried different pci slots? Also make sure it's perfectly seated very often one side will be snapped in fine but the other will not quite be and it can cause a problem.

Could be something wrong with the PCI bus. Do you have any other PCI cards that you could try like a sound or video card. Another possibility is if you have a tonne of on-board stuff, video, sound, nic...there could be a resource conflict somewhere maybe between the USB and the 1394 card. Turn auto PCi off and see if you can get it to detect by manually assigning it an address.

ok after i tried it in my comp to see if it would work i took it back and put it in the comp i was tryin' to install it in before. i stuck it in the same slot but this time it worked! and i never changed anything... so whatever.. but it works i'm happy :)
