I posted a little while ago about my vide cards being fried. For those of you who read it I got them to replace my LCD so hopefully that will solve the problem.

Anyways, I have since installed my 9600XT and it run great. However, whenever I turn off my computer my PC will not pass the POST. Mind you, the computer will soft boot just fine, but if it's a cold boot...gameover.

Any suggestions as to the cause?

P.S. I have done no volt modding or any other type of modding to any part of my computer. All defaults.

whats the agp Apature size? fast writes enabled? agp speed?

Does the computer give you any on-screen messages, or does it give you any beeps? Make sure the video card is seated well in the AGP slot. I know I occassionally have trouble with a video card not wanting to sit right in one of my computers, in which case the computer will not POST.

aperature size is 128MB. 4x, no fast write enabled. I have tried all combinations of the last two options, but it didn't help. However, I have tested some other things and come to find out that if I shut my computer off for only about 1 min the computer will boot fine. But if I leave it for an hour or so it won't boot at all.

I also have an Antec 430W true power supply. So i don't think having enough power is the problem. I have one hard drive, one DVD-ROM, one CD-RW, one floppy, and no PCI devices.

P.S. There are no POST beep at all when it is not working. I have jiggled it around and made sure that it is seated firmly in the slot so that shouldn't be a factor.

P.P.S. This is really weird too. I have an older video card that I can put in the AGP slot with all the same BIOS settings as the 9600XT and the computer boots fine after being off for an hour or so. Once the computer boots once I can replcae the older card with the 9600XT and whaddya know...the computer boots no problem. Weird huh? Man if someone can explain that I bow b4 you. lol

ok i gotta do it! run memtest just to check I dunno why but i think that could be a problem also what is your temps? get ahold of me on aol or msn if you want

There's been issues with the Ati Video cards and the AMD mobos. Sometimes the board will not boot up. You swap video cards, she boots up fine, put the Ati back in and she's ready to go. Dunno why.
