View Full Version : Is there any utility to monitor the video card fan speed?

It seems to be giving me trouble lately, so does anyone know how I can keep track of the video card fan speed? (I have a GeForce4 Ti 4200 - Abit Siluro)

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Count how many rotations it makes per second :D

jk. I dont know any utility to monitor the gfx card's fan speed... but what's wrong with it?

lol, well ... it all happened like this

My vid card fan was hitting the abit logo plate above it, making an unbearable and repitious clicking sound.

So I remove the cover plate of the fan, and I see there is a gash where the fans blades kept on hitting it. I cut off one of the three prongs on the cover plate, so the fan won't hit it anymore.

Well, When I stick the vid card back in the comp it seems that the fan won't start. It kind of stutters and then rests.

It has nothing to do with my cover plate fiasco, cuz even with the cover plate off it won't work. While the computer is running I move along the fan with my finger and by blowing on it, and then it goes to normal speed and remains like that.

I wanted to monitor the speed to see if it actually stays normal or falters. And upon boot up, I just don't know if the fan will start on its own anymore :(

Can you buy a video card fan just like that? I'm not oc'ing, and just using the one that came with the card.

I just had a problem with a bad fan on my Radeon 9700. I just ordered a new HSF for it. I got a Vantec Iceberq 4 and it's working wonderfully. Here's one that should work with your card: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=35-110-107&depa=0

And it's not that hard to replace. Just be careful and patient.
