View Full Version : Every darn way to quiet a pc
What are all the tricks? What of the tricks can be bought through computer places like newegg, zipzoomfly, etc.
1. Rubber dameners? Where do you get these, how do you install, how well do they work?
2. Foam. I know putting foam can help kindof, how much? If you have a window does that make it pointless? Where to buy? hmm... this may seem a good idea for a water cooled system that doesn't require air, to buffer the harddrives. ---> hmm... water
3. I have no idea, but wish I knew every last trick

Yes, rubber dampeners supposedly work. You usually place them between two components... like if you got a hard-drive caddy with a rubber dampener, it'd go between the hard-drive and the case itself so any vibration from the HD would be absorbed.
Foam is also another trick. It's the same technology they use in 'listening rooms'. You're right about the window tho.
Water cooling yea.
Antec is also making a fanless PSU, which the entire case/sleeve is a giant heatsink.
Zalman has also made a fanless case using heat-pipes, but it costs a crapload.

Yeah, I've seen those, they are like what was it... over 15 hundred bucks? It'd be awesome though, and one heavy case.

Yea the Zalman case costs around that area I think. Voodoo PC is offering PC's with that case, and those cost like 4000 bux :loco:
I really wouldn't mind getting my hand on the stealth Antec PSU's tho. I think it's gonna be like, $200.
